It's just the most fun game you can play with a small child. I don't know why. They don't know why either.
All four of my kids used to laugh themselves stupid, with the drool and the snot and the belly laughs that would make the baby fat jiggle! (Parents of children know that laugh... It's the most contagious type of laughter and it is absolutely addictive! ) It's a rolling, genuine, "you can't help but laugh yourself" kind of laughter.
It may not always be "Peek-a-boo" that does it. Sometimes it's a random occurrence. Washing your face, burping, dropping your pen, stubbing your toe. (I don't know what it is, but ALL little kids LOVE to see other people in pain... They find it funny and amusing... Next time your near a small child, jump up and yell "OUCH!"... You'll see...) People with children know and the people who don't yet will see... When the laughter does start, you WILL do everything to keep it going whether you keep on washing your face until you almost drown or burping until you almost puke or dropping a pen until it breaks or stubbing your toe until you go into shock... When the moment fades, you'll try and recreate the moment by performing these actions again. Sometimes it works, most of the times it doesn't. <Shrug!> Thankfully, with mine, it was the peek-a-boo game that did it...
