It surprises me how naive some people really are about self defense and how ignorant they are about what REALLY happens in a street fight. Making something work in the sterile environment of a dojo, with a static partner or sparring with someone under the "rules of the sport" does not a fighter make. RARELY does that shit happen on the street, if EVER (okay... It NEVER happens in the street like that...) and it's NEVER like in the movies. It is dirty, it is vicious, it is visceral, it is animal, it is crazy and generally, it is over in seconds. Not MINUTES like in the movies or in "sports" and tournaments.
So, here they spend YEARS of training in some "dojo" with white guys trying to pretend that they are all sorts of Asian and pretend to be deeply immersed in the culture or whatever and they learn how to "properly execute moves". When executed "perfectly" in a street fight? Well, likely, you aren't going to be able to pull it off in time and the fight is over, you've already lost and you're bleeding from the nose, your eye is swelling shut and you are face down in the dirt wondering what the hell just happened. How'd that "self defense" shit that took you years to learn work out for ya?
Just wondering was all.....
